Silverton Recap
Hello Barracuda families!
While we didn't get the final result we wanted, a 286 - 227 loss at the hands of the Sharks, all we can say is WOW!! Our team performed very well against a fully rostered team with great swimmers. Every Barracuda brought passion, team spirit, great sportsmanship and FAST swimming to our first "real" home meet of the season! With a few more swimmers, we would have made it very close.
With only 52 swimmers, we had 90 personal best times!! That was a 45% personal best rate... awesome!
We had four triple winners: Amara Byrd, Amelia Slavis, Sophie Perry and Evan Payne.
Records continue to fall as well:
- Leia Dupre, Zoey Rowe, Amelia Slavis, Annie Tala set a new 9-10 girls medley relay, beating the previous 2017 record by over 2 seconds with a 1:12.91
- Walker McDonald, Evan Langebeck, Evan Payne, Leo Petriaev continue to set records, this time a new 15-18 boys medley relay record with a time of 1:54.53
- Sophie Perry shaved a tiny .07 seconds off her 2020 50 backstroke mark with a time of 29.84
Speaking of records, the new website makes it easy to track the top 3 swimmer records for each event. It shows a good overall progression for the team through the years. So the most impressive statistic from last night was we added 18 new entries to that list!! For a team that has been around for a little while now, that is truly impressive! Next week, we have a virtual away meet with the Oxxford Hunt Swampfoxxes where we will try and get our first win of the season.
GO BARRACUDAS!!
